Frequently asked questions about Croissantgate
Everything people wonder about by the coffee machine.
Yes. The daily puzzle, archives, streak, widget and hints are free, with no ads and no account.
The floor is split into rooms. Each colleague, and the croissant box, has a row and a column all to themselves. You stand on the floor, a chair or a rug, never on a desk, a pot plant or a cupboard. The Post-its say where everyone was. Golden rule: the culprit is the only colleague alone in the same room as the box.
When you tap a portrait, their Post-its light up and the plan greys out the squares they rule out, one Post-it at a time, along with colleagues already placed. It doesn't solve anything for you: the right square is never grey, and you can turn the grey off in the settings.
It outlines the zone it refers to on the plan and picks the person it mentions. Tap it again to turn it off.
Yes, in three steps. The nudge says where to look, “Explain it” gives the deduction and the squares it rules out, “Show me the answer” puts one person's real spot on the plan. You stop whenever you like.
Nothing, apart from a mention in your result: each stage counts as one hint. Your streak still holds.
Yes: one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, on a 5×5 or 6×6 plan. Gentler on Sunday and Monday, tougher on Friday and Saturday. Numbered puzzles start on November 1, 2026.
About two minutes, the length of a coffee. The timer is there to compare with the team, not to rush you.
Every puzzle solved on the day adds a mug to your stack. The day is checked with a time signed by a server: moving your iPhone's clock forward doesn't move your streak. Offline, you can play, but the streak waits. Archives never count.
Yes, in the archives: past puzzles, back to #1 on November 1, 2026, are playable. Tomorrow's comes out at midnight, Paris time, and not before.
Never. “Forward to the team” prepares an emoji result (number, time, hints, false leads, streak), and “Share the card” turns it into an image. The culprit's name isn't in there.
A no-account web page is planned, to play from a link. It isn't online yet. The pocket case on this site does run in your browser, but it's a demo: the daily puzzle is played in the app.
You need iOS 17 or later. The app is in French and English, colleagues and Post-its included.
Office sounds (Post-its, marker, coffee machine, refused badge) and haptics, each with its own setting. Your iPhone's silent switch mutes the sound.
